  1. Standing ovation from South Africa! I am a PCV who tries to start the conversation on mental health within the PCV community (as someone with autism and an anxiety disorder), but the discussion keeps going flat. It is posts like this that rejuvenate me to push forward and maintain the conversation. Currently I am in the country office, undergoing a stressful site change and this could not have come at a better time. I am glad to hear that you had a great and supportive experience with the PCMOs, and hope you are enjoying Nicaragua (I had the opportunity to briefly volunteer there last year..it is a beautiful country). Thank you for being vulnerable and reminding other PCVs that we are not alone. My hope is that more PCVs will embrace vulnerability, share their mental health experiences, and then we can eventually reach nonchalance status. Please keep up the amazing work and insightful commentary on Nicaraguan culture.

    All the best,
    Katey

    1. Hi Katey,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. I am sorry to hear that the conversation you have been working so hard to keep going has gone flat, but I am happy that I have made you feel like the battle is still worth fighting!

Where in Nicaragua did you visit?

I wish you the best with your site change. I actually just submitted an application for a research Fulbright to study art therapy in Cape Town after my service! Maybe our paths will cross 🙂

Keep up the good work as well!

      Hugs,
      Char
